Milwaukee: Adrian Griffin, the head coach of the Milwaukee Bucks, was sacked, the franchise announced on Tuesday.
Assistant coach Joe Prunty will assume the role of interim head coach, according to the Bucks.
According to a statement released by the Bucks general manager Jon Horst, “this was a difficult decision to make during the season.””We are in the process of promptly selecting our next head coach. We appreciate Coach Griffin‘s dedication to the squad and his hard work.
Griffin led the Bucks as head coach for the first time in this season. In June 2023, Milwaukee hired Griffin, giving him the team’s 17th head coach overall. Mike Budenholzer, who left the franchise following Milwaukee’s playoff loss in the first round of the previous year, is replaced by Griffin.

In 2023–2024, Griffin coached in just 43 games. With a 30-13 record going into Tuesday, the Bucks have the second seed in the Eastern Conference.
The 49-year-old Griffin assisted in the NBA for 16 seasons, the last five of which he worked with the Toronto Raptors. A nine-year NBA playing career started with this.
During his first head coaching gig, Griffin made a big impression on the squad by taking over players Damian Lillard and Giannis Antetokounmpo, two members of the NBA’s 75th Anniversary squad. The sudden resignation of assistant coach Terry Stotts before the season was a red flag for Griffin’s stay.
Griffin benefitted from Stotts’ more than 1,000 games of head coaching expertise when he started his career as a head coach. Less than a week before the season began, Stotts, who described taking over as “a no-brainer,” departed from the staff.
