Rahul Gandhi's tour banners were defaced in Lakhimpur, Assam: Congress

North Lakhimpur, Assam: The Congress claims that in the town of North Lakhimpur, Assam, where its Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra is passing through today, banners and posters greeting the event have been vandalized.Leading the yatra is Rahul Gandhi. It is currently on its third day of travel in the state, passing through the North Lakhimpur headquarters town as well as other areas of Lakhimpur district, before heading into Arunachal Pradesh later in the day.

The bulk of the hoardings, posters, and banners in the North Lakhimpur town area were damaged on Friday night, according to Bharat Narah, the leader of the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC).

He asserted that the miscreants had torn all of the posters and hoardings out of panic about the yatra’s success.

Throughout Assam’s political history, competing political parties have never damaged one another’s banners or posters.

The head of the APCC’s media committee, Mr. Narah, also claimed that the state government, which is governed by the BJP, was putting obstacles in the way of the yatra and was even attempting to prevent people from taking part in it.

There are rumors that the boats’ batteries have been taken out. Fuel stations have been cleared out to make it impossible for individuals to arrive in their cars.”

However, the Congress leader stated, “We want to tell them that nothing can stop the yatra’s success.””

The party also released a video purportedly showing nighttime poster-tearing of Congress leader photos in North Lakhimpur town by miscreants.

At a news conference in Majuli on Friday, General Secretary of the All India Congress Committee (AICC), Jairam Ramesh, asserted that the party’s first Bharat Jodo Yatra, which ran from south to north, had fewer difficulties passing through states governed by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) than its second yatra. Assam is home to one of them.

He said that the inaugural Bharat Jodo Yatra did not encounter many problems, even when it passed through states governed by the Bharatiya Janata Party. We did not encounter as many challenges throughout these two days as we did in Assam.

Alongside Mr. Gandhi on the yatra is Mr. Ramesh, who stated, “This is the first time that the Chief Minister has been harassed within a 24-hour period.” FIRs and jails are being threatened against us. Travel is prohibited for people.

In 2022–2023, Gandhi led the first yatra, which traveled from Kanyakumari to Kashmir.

The 6,713-kilometer Nyay Yatra, which combines walking and bus travel, is expected to pass through 110 districts across 15 states in 67 days.

Up until January 25, it will traverse 17 districts and 833 miles in Assam.
